Overview
Incarnation of Fear is a pinnacle boss and one of The Incarnations, fought in the Moment of Trauma arena. This strategy covers the regular (non-uber) fight. Every kill drops one guaranteed unique and one guaranteed Astrolabe, and the unique pool includes Enmity's Embrace, which carries most of the value.
Setup
- Echo of Trauma — one per run, placed in the map device to open the Moment of Trauma. It drops from a memory boss after completing a Memory Thread.
- Run time — about one and a half minutes, end to end. This is the house estimate: a one-minute kill for a competent build plus thirty seconds of portal and map-device overhead, not a measured time.
The Encounter
- Orb Fire — creates up to three orbs whose debuff deals fire damage over time, lowers maximum elemental resistances and prevents life and energy shield recovery.
- Spear Throw — aims along a visible tracking line, then fires a spear; if it was aimed through an Orb Fire and you avoid the spear, the orb is destroyed.
- Rapture Beam — charges, then fires a fire beam that turns to track you while launching salvos in front.
- Staff Slam — slams the spear into the ground, leaving Burning Ground and inflicting Scorch.
- Melee Combo — strikes the ground rapidly, releasing three homing projectiles.
- Stomp — inflicts Crushed.
How These Numbers Were Calculated
- The method — a synthetic 100-kill sample built from published drop rates, not recorded runs. An 11% drop is counted 11 times and a guaranteed drop 100 times. Expenses are one Echo of Trauma times the same 100 runs, and the hourly figure spreads that net result over a modelled 1.5-minute run.
- Astrolabes — the wiki gives 33% for Templar Astrolabe and 7.5% for each other type without naming them; the nine other Astrolabe types were each counted at 7.5%.
- The rates are estimates — the wiki's table comes from roughly 700 regular kills across versions 3.28.0 to 3.29.0, and it notes that actual rates may vary. Results over a short run of kills will differ from this model.
The model is heavily concentrated. Enmity's Embrace, an 11% drop, accounts for roughly three quarters of the modelled profit, and without it the remaining drops do not cover the cost of the Echo. Long stretches without one are normal at that rate and are not evidence the strategy is broken; the numbers only hold up over many kills.
