Overview

Uber Shaper is the Area Level 85 version of the Shaper encounter, opened with Cosmic Fragments in the Shaper's Realm. It is fought for an uber-exclusive unique pool the regular tier has no access to, and in practice for one item in that pool: Sublime Vision accounts for close to four fifths of the modelled return. The margin over fragment cost is narrow, so this is content for a character that can already kill it quickly and consistently, not content to learn the fight on.

Setup

Four Cosmic Fragments per run, used in the Shaper's Realm. Nothing else is consumed, which makes the fragment price the entire cost line — and a steep one. At the prices this model was built on, fragments absorb about 92% of gross return, so the strategy is really a bet on the ratio between the fragment price and the uber unique pool. If fragments climb or Sublime Vision falls, it stops being profitable well before either moves dramatically.

The Encounter

The Nexus comes first: four randomly chosen map bosses at the corners of an X-shaped area, each killed to open the portal to the arena. The Shaper then has three phases, separated by passage sections where The Uncreated and then The Unshaped must be killed. He regenerates health while players traverse those passages, so crossing them quickly matters.

The uber version changes the fight substantially. The area carries Monsters take 70% less damage, putting the damage requirement far above the regular fight. Two shadow clones join in and use the ball, melee and beam skills. Volatile Anomalies and their vortexes are no longer cleared between phases, so the arena progressively fills with hazards. The ball spell gains two extra projectiles and penetrates 40% cold resistance, the teleport slam is faster, wider, harder-hitting and cannot be blocked, and Zana's bubble no longer shields against Bullet Hell, though it fires fewer projectiles to compensate.

Every dangerous attack in the fight is a cold spell, which makes maximum cold resistance and spell suppression the two defensive layers that actually matter here. Bring a movement skill for the slams and beams, and expect the third phase to leave very little safe ground.

How These Numbers Were Calculated

These figures are a model, not a record of anyone's runs. The sample is a synthetic 100 kills built from the drop rates published on the PoE Wiki: a rate of 40% is counted as 40 drops across the sample, 2% as two, and expenses are the cost of one run's fragments multiplied by the same 100 runs. Nothing here was farmed and measured. The hourly figure assumes a four-minute run measured end to end, so the full sample represents about six and a half hours of play; a slower clear scales it down proportionally.

The rates themselves come from the wiki's uber Shaper dataset of 1,857 runs spanning versions 3.26.0 to 3.27.0, with a supplementary set of 13,000 runs for specific items. That is a solid sample by wiki standards, but the wiki notes plainly that actual drop rates may vary, and the guaranteed unique pool percentages predate The Unblinking Eye being added to it in 3.29 — that item has no published rate and is not modelled here, so the real pool is slightly more diluted than these figures show.

The concentration is the number to understand before running this. Sublime Vision is about 79% of modelled profit on a 2% drop chance, meaning the model expects two of them per hundred kills and the entire net result is smaller than a single copy. A hundred kills that produce one Sublime Vision, or none, lose money outright, and that happens more often than not being unlucky would suggest — roughly two runs of a hundred in five. The hourly figure is therefore an average across a long stretch of play rather than something a short session will resemble. A dry streak here is the expected texture of the strategy rather than evidence that anything is broken, and the flip side is that a single extra copy multiplies the net several times over.
